Experience Thrilling Aerial Tours with Classic Aviators

ABOUT CLASSIC AVIATORS

Based at Katama Airfield in Edgartown, our biplane tours have been part of Martha's Vineyard summers for 20+ years. These open cockpit planes were once used to train military pilots and have been professionally restored to pristine condition.

Rides are available for all ages and offer a unique way to take in the Island’s views and landscapes. It’s an unforgettable experience!
About Us

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you cancel flights due to weather?
Yes. Safety is our top priority, and we monitor weather conditions closely. If your flight must be canceled due to rain, fog, wind, or maintenance issues, we’ll notify you as soon as possible. You’ll receive a full refund and be offered the next available flight time. Guests affected by cancellations are prioritized for rebooking.

Do you fly if it’s cloudy or windy?
It depends. Some wind and overcast skies are perfectly safe to fly in, and our experienced pilots make that call based on current conditions. If we determine it’s not a good day to fly, we’ll cancel and refund as needed.

What is your cancellation policy?

  • Cancel more than 24 hours before your flight: Full refund, including deposit.

  • Cancel less than 24 hours before your flight or arrive more than 1 hour late: No refund, we keep the deposit.

  • If we cancel for weather or maintenance: Full refund and rescheduling options offered.

How many people can go in the plane at once?

Our plane seats two passengers at a time, plus the pilot. The rate includes either one or both passengers. If you're booking for a larger group, we’ll schedule back-to-back flights so everyone gets a turn.

Can you accommodate wheelchair users or passengers with limited mobility?
Yes. We fly with Camp Jabberwocky every summer and have ramps and ladders available. Our team can assist passengers into the aircraft safely when needed. If you’re unsure, just reach out — we’ll do everything we can to help.

Will my height or weight be an issue in the airplane?
We accommodate a wide range of body types. Taller passengers may have their head in the breeze a bit, but everyone wears a headset and goggles for comfort. There’s reasonable legroom, and cushions can be added for shorter passengers. Feel free to stop by in advance if you’d like to see the cockpit before your flight.

Do you accept walk-ins or reservations by phone or email?

Online bookings are preferred and prioritized. If you’d rather schedule by phone or email, feel free to call or message us directly — we’re happy to help. Walk-ins are accepted from 10 AM to 3 PM, June through September, but are subject to availability and take last priority. Booking in advance is the best way to secure your preferred time.

When does your season begin and end?

We typically operate from mid-June through mid-September. Outside of those months, online booking is occasionally available on a limited basis. If you're on the island and see our plane out at Katama Airfield, feel free to stop by and say hello!

Do you offer gift cards?
Yes! Gift cards can be purchased directly through our online booking platform and make a great present for adventure lovers.

Do you sell merchandise?
Yes! We have a selection of shirts, sweatshirts, hats, and more available for purchase on-site at the time of your flight.

What if I have a large group or want to book for multiple people?

We’re happy to accommodate groups! Just give us a call or send an email so we can help coordinate the best timing and setup for your flights.
